One must know how to handle colors so that these reinterpretations never descend into caricature or comics. They exude an expressiveness, an intensity obviously quite different from what Picasso’s works express, but which one can perceive perfectly, beyond formal mimicry. This raises a very interesting aesthetic question, one that Picasso himself
often addressed in his own remakes of past masters. Soft pastel tones, applied in broad strokes, envelop his canvases with surprising gentleness. He works in series, proposes colorful variations of the same subject, starts over without repeating himself. The pace is sustained, the practice daily, the framework indispensable.
